The impact of e-mobility on economic and social development in Poland

The European Union plans stipulate that no new passenger or commercial ICE vehicles will be allowed to be registered in any Member State from as early as 2035. This implies that e-mobility will have an increasing impact on both the economy and society.

The conventional automotive industry has a significant impact on the environment. Road transport is responsible for 72% of greenhouse gas emissions from the entire EU transport sector. Unlike emissions from industrial sources, pollutant emissions from vehicle exhausts spread directly into people’s neighborhoods, affecting our health and consequently the length and quality of our lives. Additionally, we must not overlook excessive noise, which, after pollution, is ranked as a key cause of ill health for European citizens. Thanks to e-mobility, we can significantly alter this scenario.

The automotive sector is a significant component of the labor market in Poland. In this industry, the advancement of e-mobility, coupled with active support from the central administration, holds the potential to bring about significant development opportunities. These opportunities include the creation of new jobs and an increase in the value of wages within the sector, thereby directly impacting the financial standing of our society and subsequently, the economy as a whole.
Education should not be overlooked either. The need for a comprehensive overhaul of the Polish education system has been highlighted in public discourse for years. E-mobility presents an opportunity for significant change in this domain.

The study conducted by F5A experts analyzed the impact of e-mobility on society in three areas: environmental, socio-educational, and market. Based on the collected data, a variant analysis of the impact of e-mobility on the Human Development Index (HDI) was prepared, which serves as a summary measure of achievements in key dimensions of human development: longevity, education, and standard of living. The entire project was concluded with recommendations, the implementation of which is necessary to maximize the benefits. However, I can already disclose that irrespective of the scenario adopted, e-mobility will have a positive impact on Polish society.
