Based on data from the F5A database, the publication “Electromobility in public transport – practical aspects of implementation” is primarily targeted at local governments, public benefit institutions, and private transport operators intending to introduce electric public and car transport.
This handbook draws on extensive practical experience gained from meetings and analyses of national and international scientific studies, focusing on the technical aspects of e-mobility in public transport. Its objective is to streamline and optimize the implementation of electric transport in urban areas by providing a well-considered strategy, factual support in decision-making processes, and answers to frequently asked questions. The publication covers the social, legal, economic, and operational frameworks, while also highlighting the most relevant challenges.
The report indicates that in February 2017, electric buses in Poland (totaling 30 vehicles) were operational in only five cities. By 2019, the number of such cities had increased to approximately 20, with the fleet of e-buses surpassing 130 vehicles. This notable growth underscores the magnitude and pace of change in public transport.
Electrifying public transport offers significant operational, environmental, and promotional advantages. E-mobility presents an opportunity to foster innovation, enhance the quality of life in Polish cities, and stands as a key element in combating smog. In this context, Polish local authorities are tasked with a critically important responsibility. By investing in electric vehicles, they can contribute to stimulating the development of the national economy and bolstering Poland’s position on the international stage.
